My role and main contributions
SchoolMe was an academic project I developed during my master's in UX UI Design at Nuclio Digital School. I participated in all phases of the process, from the initial research to the final design. In the UX stage, I conducted interviews and moderated user testing sessions. During the UI phase, I designed the landing page and collaborated on the design of other pages, ensuring the project maintained visual and functional coherence.

There comes a time in life when families must decide what type of education they want for their children. It’s a challenging process that involves evaluating multiple factors, from personal preferences to bureaucratic procedures, and facing a great responsibility that will influence the child’s future.
Our challenge was to create a product that makes this process less overwhelming and easier for those going through it.

Besides the information we were able to gather from families, we decided to investigate the context of the educational system in the city of Barcelona. According to data from the Catalonia Government, Barcelona City Council, and the Consorci d’Educació, we discovered that:
There is a lower availability of public schools that does not meet the demand, which increases the uncertainty for those families who can only access to public schools.

When creating the user personas, we realized that, as fictional representations, they could fall into stereotypes and might not reflect all users. Reality shows us that there is a diversity of families, and that decisions about children's education are not exclusively made by mothers.
This led us to identify two types of families, based on the patterns we discovered in the interviews and surveys.

In our research, we discovered that in Barcelona there are only two products on the market that facilitate the search for schools: Mi cole and Scholarum. Additionally, the interviews revealed that families seek information on institutional websites such as the Consorci d’Educació, the Barcelona City Council, and the schools' own pages. Some interviewees mentioned using Google Maps to find nearby schools and to read reviews from other families.

Initially, we proposed a solution focused on providing a personalized experience for families, based on criteria such as proximity and the characteristics of the school. However, this idea presented a challenge: its seasonality, as it would only be used during the search and enrollment period, losing relevance once it was over.
Upon reviewing the research, we found that families rated extracurricular activities at 7/10 and child health professionals at 8/10. Therefore, we decided to design a solution that would not only be useful during school pre-enrollment but also allow families to access these services throughout the year, connecting families and schools and bringing together all key stakeholders for a well-rounded educational experience.

Once we completed the low and medium-fidelity wireframe development phase, we created a prototype that allowed us to conduct an initial test with 3 users.
This test helped us confirm that the product met user needs and was intuitive. With the collected information, we implemented visual improvements to enhance the platform's usability.

Finally, it would be interesting to continue iterating on this product to assess its market viability, starting with user testing of the final prototype with a larger number of users, especially those with a suggestible family profile.
Additionally, it is crucial to develop the B2C version for extracurricular activity centers and specialists, which will allow us to continue the development and growth of the project. It is also important to analyze the technical feasibility of the simulator's functionality, which depends on a predictive mathematical model.
